Good Morning! This is an app exploration post. There are all the usual formatting options in this editor.
Block quotes help text stand out. “This is clearly quoted.”
Of course, bold, italic, links, and features are here too.
Headings and Embeddings
Headers are always needed to keep your reader in the loop. The “Style” list in the toolbar has those headings. I am also able to embed certain kinds types of media. To add an image, just drag it in here or select from the image selector tool in the toolbar. Here is the first image in an ongoing time-lapse series of my Christmas Amaryllis.
For a tweet, YouTube video, Vimeo video, Spotify track, or SoundCloud embed, just paste the relevant link on a new line (don’t grab the embed code; it won’t work).
Same with a YouTube video, paste the link.
I don’t have a Vimeo, SoundCloud, or Spotify video to share. Though I do have a website to link to.
To delete a post, click on the Settings button (just to the left of Publish), and scroll down and find the delete button.
Publishing Changes
I have two publishing options:
Publish – this publishes my post only to the web.
Publish & Send – this publishes my post to the web and at the same time sends the post out by email.
Once I have sent an email out, the only way to send it again is to create an entirely new post. Any edits I make to a post that has already been published will only be reflected on the web. So, there’s no need to worry about accidentally spamming my readers with repeat emails.
Finally, if I import posts from some other site’s archives, I can backdate them so they are published in the correct order and associated with the correct publication dates. To do so, after I have published this post, I’ll go into this post’s Settings (just to the left of the Publish button) and select the desired date.
If you have any questions, you can check out the Substack Help Center or contact support!
I decided not to import the previous letters I wrote, instead I will edit and republish them weekly here. Starting from scratch as it were. Feel free to reach out if you want to collaborate or inquire about the enormous library of ridiculousness that I feel so fortunate to live.
Each week I will at minimum publish a poem & update of the Amaryllis. Though I' may have enough content backlogged to provide a chapter by chapter review of my favorite motivating radio broadcast by Earl Nightingale - Lead the Field!
I had begun it on revue which has since shutdown, on of these weeks I’ll get those scheduled. They come with accompanying videos on my YouTube channel, so there will be parallel content posting throughout the socials if I can manage.
Don’t Vote for Me. I don’t want the Job.
This looks a lot like twitter but everything links everywhere. Wish Me Luck! We’re Going to Need God.
Apparently one can also “start a podcast” here as well. Not sure howthat will work, but worth noting.
